This blog focused on Glass Protocol, a project designed to revolutionize streaming video content infrastructure for developers and creators.
Current video infrastructure is centralized and is very expensive:
Over 50% of internet bandwidth is consumed by video content
The primary functions necessary to create video infrastructure are file storage, content delivery networks, and transcoding
Video infrastructure has a very high barrier to entry due to the costs of the necessary functions
Centralized platforms don’t focus on the monetization for creators at the infrastructure layer
Leveraging decentralized tooling is more cost efficient than currently than using centralized Incumbents
Glass is building its protocol on both the Ethereum and Solana blockchains - the project has strong conviction in a multichain future
Glass’ bet on the web3 native tools has resulted in massive savings for the team - Ex: Glass uses Livepeer for transcoding, resulting in a 50X savings for the team
Decentralized tools are less proven due to the nacentness of the industry giving Glass the opportunity to be a first adopter and case study for new models
Glass embedded creator monetization models at its base layer, making infrastructure that gives them true ownership

About the Author:
Hey Frens! Thanks so much for subscribing to my newsletter. I’m Austin (aka Crypto Jeter). I write this newsletter weekly to shine a light on interesting web3 startups with founders from a vast diversity of backgrounds. Additionally, this newsletter aims to display the innovation in web3 and various evolutionary moments impacting the industry. In 2017, during my sophomore year at Morehouse College, I bought my first fraction of a Bitcoin and have since been inspired by the access blockchain technology creates, specifically the opportunity of financial freedom for all. Over the last 5 years, the community I’ve built, my education and professional experiences have accelerated my learnings and helped me stay current with the state of the broader crypto ecosystem. I truly enjoy meeting founders, investors, and contributors who are in the crypto space so please feel free to send me a DM on Twitter to @Cryptojeter.
